Your History

Your History

What is your History? Is it label as a color, a race or a culture? What makes your past History? Is it your skin color, your religion or your ideology?
What does your history mean? Does it mean that it’s the in the past, therefore we can’t do anything about it? Who cares by the way, it’s in the past? So what do I do now, what do I do about my history? Is what I do now a response to my history?

Here is a why ask these questions? Rikki. a former co-worker, at Devereux Treatment Network, posted on Facebook that ” Its Black History month. Is it bad that the white kids at work know more black history than the black kids???” As crazy as it sounds here is something more crazier. When I was working there, a teacher was show a documentary on Black History in class, all of the black teens were fall asleep while the white teens were watching with focus and asking questions. WOW. Worse, the next period another teacher showed a cartoon, and all the black teens were well awake. ….hum…Am I the only one seeing a problem here.
Has our History failed our youth or are have our youth fail to live up to their history? I am truly concerned about the younger generation, but I can not point blame on them only. My generation and the previous has some explaining to do?

What do you think?
