Booker T Washington (April 5, 1856 – November 14, 1915) was an American political leader, educator, orator and author. A last generation black leaders born in slavery. Efforts included cooperating with white people, enlisting the support of philanthropists,which help operate thousands of small community schools n institutions of higher education for the betterment of blacks throughout the South, work continued after his death.
